Realizing the need to create awareness among young minds about fire safety, Safe Kids Foundation and Honeywell India have expanded the nationally-recognized Safe Kids at Home program to Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) after its successful implementation in Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) area.

It is an initiative that works in close collaboration with fire and education departments, hospitals, burn-units, pediatric associations, and schools and communities to drive fire safety vigilance and preparedness among children and parents.

Talking about the initiative, Cinthia Pinto, Program Director, Safe Kids Foundation, said, “After the successful implementation of Safe Kids at Home program in PMC area two years ago, we are pleased to expand the program to PCMC. Through interactive class room sessions and community awareness drives, we intend to create 80 model safe schools and 50 model communities exclusively in the PCMC area.”

Stressing on the need to implement fire safety measures in PCMC, Kiran Gawade, Chief Fire Officer, PCMC, said, “PCMC is a burgeoning industrial hub. To be able to support this growth sustainably, we need to prevent and reduce fire incidents caused by negligence or lack of awareness around fire prevention and mitigation. While our fire-fighters do a great job as first responders to save lives and assets, increased fire safety awareness will help improve both prevention as well as response.”

Vikas Chadha, President, Honeywell India, said, “Honeywell bring decades of fire safety experience, our global connected home technologies, and local understanding to keep homes and families safe. We are proud to support the Safe Kids at Home program, which is committed to driving critical fire safety awareness and preparedness among children, parents, and teachers and transforming community knowledge, behaviours and attitudes towards safety.”
