SPPU’s Dept Of Media And Communication Studies Hosts 7th National Short Film Fest

The DMCS National Short Film Festival is a platform for aspiring film makers where they can showcase their talent and interact with esteemed media professionals.

Currently in it’s 7th year, the film festival is the only film festival that is organized by students of Pune University.

The Festival will be held on 19th & 20th Feb 2018 at the Sant Namdev Sabhagruh in Savitribai Phule Pune university with the opening ceremony at 10.00 a.m. on the 19th Feb.

The festival will be inaugurated by the team of Marathi film ‘Raakshas’. The ceremony will be graced by renowned actress Saie Tamhankar and Raakshas director Dyanesh Zoting who also is an alumnus of the department.

The opening ceremony will be followed by the screening of the film ‘Sakhisona’ by Prantik Basu of FTII Pune, which won the Tiger Award at 46th International Film Festival of Rotterdam and the Silver Conch for Best Short Fiction at the Mumbai International Film Festival in 2018.

Over two days, 30 competition short films from across various genres will be screened at the Namdev Sabhagruh. The screening is open to all and free of cost.

The closing ceremony will be held on the 20th Feb at 6 :00 p.m. which will be graced by veteran actor Mr. Vikram Gokhale as the chief guest. The jury members of the festival will also be present comprising popular Marathi actor – director Mr. Prasad Oak, award winning cinematographer Ms. Fowzia Fathima and award winning editor Mr. Ashwin Ramanathan.
