Pune, 19 March 2019 – Seco Tools India was awarded the Swachh Bharat Award for Solid and Liquid Resource Management during National Swachhata Summit & Awards organ ized at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi recently.
National Swacchata Summit & Awards 2019 recognizes organisations and government agencies who have delivered successful CSR projects with tangible outcomes and has achieved excellence in the areas of Water management, Sanitation, Health and Hygiene across India.
Seco has been implementing a decentralized community led waste management program at Koregaon Bhima village which is home to around 350 households and 1,500 people. The project started in 2016 by initiating a structured waste collection process.
The solid waste produced here is collected, segregated and then processed. Wet waste is sent for com-posting while dry waste is recycled. Seco also took the lead in creating a modern com-posting plant. This plant has created direct job and income opportunities in the local com-munity. More than 50 volunteers from Seco India are also actively engaged in supporting this initiative.
