NFAI launches Children’s Film Club with Arbhaat Films

In a new initiative to bring children closer to cinema, National Film Archive of India (NFAI) is starting an exclusive film club for children, in association with Arbhaat Films. The new film club aims at familiarising young ones with cinematic heritage through film screenings every month.

The club will be open to children in the age group of nine to 16 years and will organise a film screening on the last weekend of every month. The first screening will be filmmaker Satyajit Ray’s multiple National-award winning film, Sonar Kella (1974) from the Feluda detective series on February 25, 2017 from 4 to 6 pm at NFAI’s Kothrud premises.

With the aim to make our children aware of the wonders of cinema and sensitize them about its importance, the film club will help in furthering NFAI’s objective of disseminating a healthy film culture.

“We are delighted to start this initiative so that children can get to see gems and classic films. We believe that this will help in spreading the film literary right from school days. We have invited various schools to participate in our initiative,” said Shri. Prakash Magdum, Director NFAI. Renowned filmmaker and founder of Arbhaat Films, Shri. Umesh Kulkarni said, “Children should see great films of the world that will greatly impact the character they will grow into. NFAI is the hub of all significant film activities in the country and we, Arbhaat Films, are excited and happy to be associated with NFAI for this activity.”
