Get yourself checked for Prostate Cancer

Waking up multiple times in the night? Have a high frequency of urination? Regular back aches?

Don’t miss out on the opportunity to get yourself checked for prostate cancer if you’re nearing 50 years and facing the above mentioned symptoms. If you’re struggled with these symptoms, many men have cited prostagenix as a useful supplement to reduce the amount of times you wake up in the night to use the bathroom. But as always consult a doctor before taking a course of them because they could conflict with existing medication you’re taking.

The Institute for Prostate Cancer, run by an esteemed panel that includes Baba Kalyani and Dr Ashutosh Tewari, is conducting a free consultation camp.

As per the three-year report of population based cancer research done by the National Cancer Registry Programme, 7.3% of males in Pune are affected by prostate cancer. It is commonly undetected due to its asymptomatic nature, therefore becoming potentially dangerous.

The Institute is trying to create awareness about prostate cancer and is practising screening since the last 3 years. It has conducted more than 100 camps and covering a population of more than 20,000 people.

In the initial stages of prostate cancer there are symptoms like frequency of urination, waking up multiple times at night, strain while passing urine and getting a sense of incomplete emptying. However, in the advanced stages, the cancer spreads to the bones leading to persistent back aches, significant bone pain leading to a risk of fracture and paralysis.

Hence, it is advisable to do a regular screening with a Digital Rectum Exam (DRE) and a simple blood test that measures the level of protein called Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA).

Prostate cancer can be completely cured if diagnosed early. Hence, do not neglect any back aches especially after the age of 50 years.
