Eco-Friendly Ganpati Sholapith Decorations Workshop

Sholapith Deco

With Ganesh Chathurthi around the corner, make your favourite Modaks, flowers, makhar and other decorations with a 100% biodegradable, eco-friendly and sustainable plant called Shola found in the marshlands of West Bengal. Sholapith craft is the delicate carving of the dried and shaved stem of the Shola plant that is used to make decorative items.

The workshop will be conducted by Rabindranath Halder, a 76 year old state awardee Sholapith Artist from Mahespur village in West Bengal. He, along with his son Rathindra, is one of the few people that practice this art and keep it alive. They travel along the length and breadth of the country to take part in exhibitions and conduct workshops.
