Kirti Advani is filled with the passion to dance and would never give it up for anything. She would spend long hours practising and wanted dance to be an integral part of her life. This drove her to start her own dancing institute called Dancing Curve in 2009 at the age of 20 and Advani hasn’t looked back ever since. Over 10,000 students spread across five studios in the city have been a part of this journey.

“My intention is to spread the joy of dance and its awareness in society. There is no proper training in dance and performing arts in Pune,” says Advani who has over a thousand admissions to the institute in a month and 30 professional instructors to train them.

As the institute enters its seventh year, it is gearing up to host a grand show that will be held on Sunday, July 24 (* See Disclosure). Advani and her team are ready to give power-packed performances on different dance styles like hip-hop, jazz, contemporary and will also display their variations like tutting, locking, popping and much more. Several performances will also have a theme or will tell a story while others will aim to spread a social message. Advani has also ensured the creative use of props in her dances.

“We will depict love stories, both happy and sad, through various dance forms. The little kids will also do a dance which will be dedicated to their parents. We are also trying to spread the importance of social causes like women empowerment and educating the girl child. We are bringing around a thousand students to perform under one roof. Some are nervous or anxious so it is very important that students from different backgrounds come together to perform,” explains Advani, who says it necessary for all to overcome their stage fright.

Advani also adds that the instructors, who will also give a performance, have been preparing students for the show since the past two months. There will be an opening dance as well as a closing dance done by the advanced batches. On being asked what to watch out for at the event, Advani excitedly responds:  “You should watch every bit of it! From the tiny tots shaking their leg to adults dancing on a variety of styles. Don’t miss the energy and positivity that the students will bring on stage!”
