Applications open for NFAI’s Research Programme

National Film Archive of India is inviting applications from research scholars, journalists, critics and others for its research programme. The programme includes research fellowships, monographs and audio-visual history projects. The topics for research fellowships can be based on any aspect of Indian cinema including history, aesthetics, sociology, economics etc. The duration for completion of the research is one year, with the applicant being eligible for a remuneration of Rs 60,000 as an Honorarium and Rs 25,000 in incidentals.

The monograph, which is to be completed within six months, will have to include biographical information on a pioneering film personality along with an annotated filmography. A remuneration of Rs 30,000 will be provided for approved monographs.

The audio-visual history projects can be made on living pioneers of Indian cinema and submitted in an HD-DVD format at the end of six months. The remuneration for an audio-visual history project includes an honorarium of up to Rs 10,000 and Rs 15,000 incidental costs.

The applicants of this programme must be 21-years or older, citizens of India who hold a graduate degree or its equivalent from a recognized university. Applicants must also have previously published at least three essays or articles which are to be attached with the application. All the proposals must be in Hindi or English and proposals in any other language must be accompanied by a translation in either Hindi or English.
