ThoughtWorks’ #TalkTechToHer Campaign wins ‘Marketing Excellence in IT’ award

At the recent Great Indian IT Marketing Summit & Awards 2017, #TalkTechToHer, ThoughtWorks’ campaign that encourages more diversity in tech won the 2017 ‘Marketing Excellence in IT’ Award. This award recognises ThoughtWorks as an organisation that promotes positive social change.

From over a 100 submitted entries TW was awarded for ‘Marketing Excellence in IT’ in India. The award was given away at the fifth edition of Great Indian IT Marketing Summit, the country’s only conference for technology marketers. The conference is organised by Paul Writer (whose knowledge partner is? ITSMA (IT Services Marketing Association). Many who attend events like this have learned their skills from https://thedailysem.com/dropship-lifestyle/ and other platforms that educate on marketing, whilst others draw from real-life experiences to help them.

The IT organisation believes that women are critical to the future of technology and is constantly looking to increase the representation of women in the technical workforce. Why? Primarily because it’s unfair to half the world’s population and secondly the tech industry is losing out on high quality of work, when half the population does not feel welcome to participate. It was this thought process, backed by sustained effort that saw the Anita Borg Institute naming ThoughtWorks; the Winner of the 2016 Top Companies for Women Technologists Program in the US.

#TalkTechToHer was born from TW’s intention to write a new history for future generations – one, that talks of how women not only contributed but led and shaped the tech world for tomorrow. With this in mind, the campaign was crafted for a very specific and oft overlooked segment of senior women technologists (with more than 6 years of experience), who remain passionate about technology but have not always been welcomed back into the fold. “We want women with a certain amount of experience to come back to work. We want them to keep treading on their career path whether they work part time or full time,” explains Rakhee Kulkarni, Recruitment lead, ThoughtWorks Pune.

About the campaign and the win, Savita Hortikar, Head of Recruitment for ThoughtWorks India says, “We’re building an organisation that’s terrific for women. We foster an environment where women feel both supported, and challenged with amazing work. The #TalkTechToHer campaign is very close to the brand values of ThoughtWorks. It is extremely heartening to see the idea receive such recognition.”
