Celebrations on for Dada Vaswani’s 98th birthday on Aug 2

Tents have been set up. Flowers strewn all over. There is a buzz in the air at the Sadhu Vaswani Mission as plans are on in full swing to prepare for Dada Vaswani’s 98th birthday celebrations on August 2. The festivities will start from Friday (July 29) and there is a long list of events lined up to celebrate the city-based spiritual leader’s birthday.

The five-day celebrations will first see a 98-hour continuous chant of the Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra. This will be followed by Dada Mela on the second day, which is an elaborate service organised for the blind, orphans, handicapped and the disabled. A play by the youth wing of the Mission will also be showcased with noted film personality Arbaaz Khan as the celebrity guest. There will also be a talk by Dada Vaswani conducted by television news anchor, Mini Menon, followed by a question-answer session. A film on Dada Vaswani’s life will be shown on the fourth day. The last celebration day will see a performance by singer Kajaal Chandiramani and a session on forgiveness led by Dada Vaswani.

“We are expecting around 5000 people to join us in the celebrations from all over the world. All the events will be telecast live as well,” said a spokesperson from the Sadhu Vaswani Mission.

For the occasion, the Fabiani and Budhrani Heart Institute is organising a special cardiac camp from July 27 to August 2 with free angiography for the first 100 needy patients as well as free cardiac consultation, free ECGs and concessions on cardiac investigations, and packages for angioplasty and bypass surgery.

The Inlaks and Budhrani Hospital and Morbai Naraindas Budhrani Cancer Institute will also conduct a free medical consultation camp from July 27 to August 2 for all specialties with 50 per cent concessions on all in house investigations and surgeries in the general ward. Additionally, artificial limbs would be distributed on August 2.
