Bandwatch #3: Adhwiq

They put to rest all fears about engineers being geeks. For, the entire band has engineers in the making belting out popular numbers and dancing with the audience! While that makes you smile, there’s more. This four-year-old band has recently branched out of college events to do their very own show. And Adhwiq as they are called couldn’t be happier. Pepped up by the energy. their performance got at a popular city nightspot, the group is now going to take the stage oftener.

Says vocalist Abhijeet Shetty, “We enjoyed it a lot and are now set to explore more events.” Part of the group is drummer Pallavi Lakkad. “I do get to hear the crowd going “girl drummer” a whole lot. I wish people would not look at me as a girl first then a drummer,” she rues.

Their repertoire includes everything from Coldplay to Ye kaali kaali aankhein, a mix that has something for everybody in the audience. Not happy with just playing covers played by others, Adhwiq is already working on its own compositions. Says Abhishek, “We have released two originals – Kiss your mother goodbye- that talks about how humans have damaged the Earth. Instead of just talking about it, it is time we do something about it. The other single is called Alive. This one is basically about enjoying life.”

Jamming together in the college jam room is a must for the bunch. Palllavi says, “The jam room becomes our second home when we have a performance coming up!”

Abhishek adds, “Music for everybody is too much fun. Playing any musical instrument de-stresses us. At shows, the language doesnt matter if the genere is right.” We wish them the best!
