#Media@365 – Romancing The Spirit Of A Reunion

Call it mid-life crisis or whatever, but there certainly comes a time in life when you wake up one fine morning and question the very years of your existence..

Often it’s the folly of it all that strikes you; the never ending career race, the material indulgences and the perceivable panic, all to be called, a success.

I was probably fortunate many years down the line to realise the imminent need to celebrate life more than anything else.. Well, It’s a different matter that I learnt that the bloody hard way.. but so be it.

Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev in fact put it brilliantly, when he talked about ‘the most important thing in ‘life’ being ‘life’ itself !

This philosophy made amazing sense to me and almost in a flash, the rat race was done with, as far I was concerned!

This man is quite something actually; Let’s face it, which other Godman do you know who can fly planes, race cars and drive bikes into the wilderness ?!

He certainly knows how best to live life and hence it’s probably sensible to learn this fine art of balancing work and play..

Irrespective of what anyone may say, Today there is nothing more warm and fulfilling than relationships that withstand the test of time to overcome man-made borders of varying geographies and business cards.

And what better example of this than, the mother of all Reunions, that happened last week at Mumbai. Close to 300 ex-colleagues ( of Times Response ) from all over the globe congregated only to get a few hours with each other..

Yes, time has taken it toll and none of us were insulated from the weathered maturity of time and yet on this one day, it was sheer radiance all over. Every single one was back to the old times with a characteristic pep in their step. What came through distinctly, was the sheer bounce of true warmth that has kept this amazing set of people together.

From the charmers to the charming, every little minute was so full of energy that nothing else mattered. Flash bulbs went off by the second akin to walking the red carpet at the Academy. Precious moments that transported each one of us back to those lovely years of corporate madness that we lived with..

Most faces we grew up with and a few others you knew all these years, but hadn’t met or kept in touch. Each one a beautiful embodiment of what the togetherness of this media fraternity stood for.

Media, as I always thought, was madness that we discovered by accident and embraced for want of a  better career.

Soon, it became so overpowering that it ran the very lives that we led; A constant flurry of activity, connections and the stereotypical vagaries of business that we thrived on.

As we trudged along these ‘times’, machines and people moved on and yet, what remained were fond memories of that yesterday we called ‘life at work’..
