Come winter and the foodies mind can only think of piping hot kebabs and succulent meats straight off the grill or tandoor…

The quintessential Tandoori Chicken is by far the hot favourite, served with a tangy onion salad and a wedge of lime. Almost every non-vegetarian restaurant serves their version of it, yet, there are a handful whose signature tandoori stands tall. 

Our resident foodie decided to check on the popular outlets that Pune boasts off for this delicacy: 

Marrakesh

Marrakesh is known for Lebanese food, yet, it serves the most amazing tandoori chicken at FC road. If you are a regular visitor to the area, then you can certainly rely on them to give a juicy Tandoori chicken. Served with cabbage onion salad and a wedge of lime.

Shawarma and the biryani is worth trying too say the regulars.

Reddy’s Restaurant

Reddy’s Restaurant started as a small joint near Yerwada and now they have grown into a chain of restaurants in the city. They are not only famous for their chicken tandoori but for their wide variety of Tandoori dishes.

The tandoori chicken here is spicy and served with fresh mint leaves, salad and sliced lemon.

Apart from the regular tandoori, they have their Kolhapuri chicken tandoori which is favourite with spice lovers; Extremely spicy but worth trying.

Cost For Two: Rs 300 upwards

Place:  Reddy’s Restaurant, Hissa 2/1, Plot 70/13, Opposite Gold’s Gym, Kalyani Nagar.

Ku Kooch Ku

A delightful place for tandoori lovers, this is very popular restaurant in the city. Ku Kooch Ku serves delicious north Indian starters including smoked-spicy chicken tandoori.

The place is usually crowded in the evening, but their zesty chicken dishes totally justifies it, say their ardent followers. 

Cost For Two: Rs 400 upwards

Place:  Ku Kooch Ku, Opposite PMT Bus Stand, Deccan Gymkhana.

George Restaurant

If you’re staying in Pune and haven’t visited this iconic restaurant, then you are certainly missing the bus!

George was established in the year 1936 and has been serving the best for decades now.

The restaurant is run by an Iranian Family and they are famous for Indo-Mughlai Cuisine.

The taste of their Tandoori chicken hasn’t changed at all and the tender soft tandoori chicken is a must try at this restaurant.

Regulars also recommend their mutton biryani, butter chicken and Jujeh kebab.

Cost For Two: 300 upwards

Place:  George Restaurant, 2436, General Thimayya Road, Camp, East Street.

Tareef

This restaurant is popular for their Mughlai cuisine and for their signature dish Chicken Tandoori.

The tandoori just done perfect, marinated with special spices and fresh mint leaves.

Apart from the tandoori, customers recommend their Paya Soup, Subz Dum Biryani and their selection of seafood dishes.
