How To Work Out Your Weekends

Come Friday afternoon and all thoughts begin to tend to drift towards what to do at the weekend.

There are the ones who toil hard and see the weekend as a relief. This is their getaway to freedom from stress, long hours and constant phone calls.

Then there are those wonderful creatures who spend 5x 8 hours a day whiling away time with a firm eye on the clock and look forward to a packed weekend to crank up their lazy bodies into action.The night shift workers only have one thing in mind – sleep, sleep and more sleep.

And those fond of liquid diets tend to think binge.

However, it is always wise to make the weekend productive. There must be some objectives in mind before moving into leisure time. Here are some things to remember while planning your precious free time.

Work’s out for the weekend:  Work and workouts are out. Yes, once you step out of the office at 6am or whatever, switch the mind off work. This is important if you want to utilise your weekend.

It is often easier said than done as pressures at work tend to become bothersome during the break, particularly if you’ve had a bad week. Still there is nothing like trying and succeeding.

Time wasters at work need not bother. Your relaxation extends but you may get tired with the extra activity. Drink plenty of water.

Keep mobile data off selectively: Absolute must if you want a little peace. Otherwise you will be trapped in messages and videos and long conversations with little known friends who want to know things which you have already put up on your profile.

Update yourself and shut the damn data off.

Screen phone calls and pretend you did not because there is every possibility that disgruntled office staff may call you to air their feelings and dump their miseries on you.

Clock watchers need not bother as they are already up-to-date at work itself.

Spend more time with family: You don’t want your better half breathing down your neck for ignoring her or your kids sulking because you did not take them out.

Spend loads of time with them if so inclined. Else at least acknowledge their presence while being engrossed motionless for hours in front of the TV. Happy family means wonderful weekend.

Don’t oversleep:  You lose a lot of your free time if you sleep 14 hours a day. Regulate it. Take more short naps.  You owe some time to your family.

Don’t binge:  Always remember too much of a good thing is too bad. Go easy on Coke, Pepsi or other such liquids of your choice. Don’t binge on these.

If your preferences are towards those drinks which numb the mind and improve the system, well, the choice is yours !

Eat healthy:  Think before you order the double burger or large-size pizza with a king-size Coke. Health is wealth. But then again, a bit of the junk will test the digestive system. This will keep it in prime condition. Toss a coin and decide before going the greasy way. Blame it on Lady Luck if you come up trumps.
