Wedding Shoe’Stoppers

A SHFC Creation

It’s the wedding season and almost everyone you know is getting hitched. So it’s about time we revealed the latest in designer wedding footwear. Custom footwear has been a major trend with brides and grooms, opting for inimitable styles for their special day.

Ace designer Shradha Hedau speaks to us about her journey designing wedding footwear:

Shradha Hedau

“I know the special feeling great shoes can bring on your Wedding Day and I just wanted to share that joy through the collection,” she says.

“What makes my shoes unique are the unique names given to them. Every SHFC (Shradha Hedau Footwear Couture) pair is given a Sanskrit name which resembles the type of the shoe it is.

Talking about what drives her, she explains, “I started to see lots of women tagging me in their wedding photos, wearing styles from my collection.

That is where I got the urge to make even more pretty shoes!” she beams.

As we take a sneak peek at some of the designs for grooms, Shradha reveals that she’s more biased towards Wedding Mojadis and Moccasins than anything else.

“Complementing the groom’s shoe with the outfit is something I love to do. Then comes the detailing where each element is made to perfection, the thread we use, the colour of the embroidery, the fit and the comfort!

Quiz her about the price range of custom wedding footwear and she responds, “In the bridal category, the highest we have priced is at Rs. 25,000.

“We once constructed a groom’s shoe which was made from REAL SILVER. I think this shoe was very tricky for me! Working with silver and designing it into the leather made it an interesting shoe for all of us. We also had the man’s initials imprinted on silver of the shoes.

Such an SHFC exclusive could set you back by Rs. 62,000.

So whether it’s a deeply ethnic design you seek or stunning silver shoes; custom footwear can certainly give the fairy tale Cinderella’s glass slippers a run for their money.
