Pune365, as our name suggests, has always been synonymous with the development, growth and promotion of the city. We have covered a whole spectrum of important events, happenings and landmark achievements of the city over the past one year.

We have been in the forefront of all kinds of news – whether it is politics, people, economics, startups, fashion, festivals, food or any other subject under the sun.

67 Gun Salute!

They have been selling guns and pistols for over six decades now. Lakhan Melwani and his son Ravi, have carried on the business which bears its roots in the late 1870s and early 1880s in the Sindh province of pre-Partition India. They moved to Pune after Partition and started the shop, Naraindas Deepchand and Sons, in 1949. Melwani talks about Pune, the history of the shop, business and its problems.

Prashant Iyengar: Yoga Cannot Be Learnt In An Academy

One of the things that brought Pune into the limelight in the early years was yoga. Yoga in the city became synonymous with Iyengar. The late B K S Iyengar became one of the pioneering masters in the field as he was known for his unique style. In a tête-à-tête with Pune 365, his son Prashant Iyengar talks about his father’s legacy, his teachings and how he has come to develop his own style over the years.

Sindhu’s Sport Had its Origin Right Here in Pune

Badminton had its origins right here in Pune.  The beginnings of badminton can be traced to mid-19th century British India, where it was created by British military officers stationed there. Early photographs show Englishmen adding a net to the traditional English game of battledore and shuttlecock. Being particularly popular in the British garrison town Poona, the game also came to be known as Poonai.
