Prithvi Edifice Cup 2016 : TCS win again ; CSSL ease past BMC Software

Tata Consultancy Services’ Gaurav Singh claimed a six-wicket haul, which included a hat-trick, to score a huge 98-run win over Tieto in the 2nd Prithvi Edifice Cup 2016 Inter IT T20 Cricket Championship, at the Nehru Stadium, here on Saturday.

The victory was TCS’s second in Group-2, while Tieto suffered their second loss. In another match, new entrants CSSL posted a 5-wicket win over BMC Software.

The highlight of the day was medium-pacer Gaurav’s effort for TCS, which came in the latter part of the match.

Batting first after winning the toss, TCS moved the scoreboard fluently via Mayank Jasore (51), which incidentally was his second successive fifty. Mayank’s 31-ball innings were laced with 7 boundaries and 2 sixes. Importantly, TCS also had Gurav (51 n.o) and Vikramjeet Singh (42) engage in an innings-building third-wicket partnership of 56-runs (45 balls) which helped TCS score 181 for 6 in their allotted overs.

Vikramjeet’s aggressive innings was built upon a 30-ball essay and had seven hits to the fence.

In reply, Tieto were skittled out for just 83 after Gaurav’s pace crippled the innings with a best effort of 6/8. Imtiyaz Shaikh (18) was the highest scorer of the innings.

In a low-scoring encounter, CSSL registered an easy win over BMC Software. The victory came despite Dhiraj Dhoot (17 & 2/9) playing an all-round hero’s game for BMC Sofware.

Batting first after losing the toss, BMC Software could only muster 86 with Rahul Shah (17) and Dhiraj Dhoot (17) turning out to be the only major contributors of the innings.

For BMC Software, Rohit Dhawan (3/5) was the pick of the bowlers.

In reply, CSSL got past the modest target in the 16^th over. The innings was led by Sunil Kumbhar (25) and Sumit Phopate (17 n.o).
