Prithvi Edifice Cup 2016 :TCS, Infosys raced into semi finals

Infosys chased Siemens target with ease, while Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) defended their total against Sungard-FIS respectively and raced into the semifinals of the 2nd Prithvi Edifice Cup 2016 Inter IT T20 Cricket Championship, at the Nehru Stadium, here on Sunday.

Infosys ended up scoring a 7-wicket win, and TCS did well eventually with a 28-run verdict.

In the first match, Siemens, batting first after winning the toss, scored 111/9 which was because of the face-saving fifth-wicket partnership of 54 (51 balls) between Sandeep Kanitkar (25) and Shrinath Santhanam (32).

Siemens innings was crippled after Ravi Thapliyal bowled a brilliant spell of 2/21, which earned him the Man-of-the-Match award.

Infosys’ batting depth was on display in the chase and rattled up the score in just 10.2 overs. The easiness was due to a quick-fire second wicket partnership of 72 runs between Prabhjot Malhotra and Vaibhav Mahadik.

Sanjay (31) and top-scorer Vaibhav (34) together took just 37 balls to weave their partnership together. The latter’s innings was had six hits to the ropes.

Later, in a high scoring match, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) registered a 28 run win over Sungard-FIS despite scoring the highest total of the day.

TCS, electing to bat first, raced to a 203/4 total off their allotted overs. The innings was shaped by three individuals and two huge partnerships.

First, Mayank Jasore 58 (36 balls, 10×4) and Gaurav Singh 47 (38, 4×4, 2×6) associated themselves in an 83-run first wicket partnership off just 56 balls.

Later, Gaurav was joined by Vikramjeet (68) and added 50 (35 balls) for the second wicket.

Sungard-FIS chased well and ended up with 175/5. Pushing the pace were openers Prashant Pol 52 (37, 8×4, 1×6) and Vikrant Bangar 44 (36, 5×4, 1×6). The duo put on a 94-run partnership for the first wicket and it looked as if Sungard-FIS was running away with the match.

However, all-rounder, Gaurav Singh came up with a good spell (2/20) to swing the match in TCS favour. The effort earned Gaurav the Man-of-the-Match award
