MealTango held the Pune’s Best Chef contest recently in the city. (MealTango is a food company that specialises in providing preservative free, freshly made food that’s delicious to eat and delivered to your door) .
The contestants included Chefs of Marquee Restaurants like Malaka Spice, Tertulia and Irish Village; TV personalities and Michelin Star Restaurant Chefs, talent from culinary schools like Le Cordon Bleu and passionate home chefs.
The contestants had to first pass through a popular vote. 350+ shares and 35,000+ views, later, finalists were selected by tabulating the 10,000 votes from Pune’s foodies. The finalists were asked to prepare a dish for the panel of judges. The final winners were then selected basis their performance.
MealTango awarded Girija Kirpekar Naik as Pune’s Best Chef!
1st Runner Up : Shruti Satpute, talented Maharasthrian Homechef and chef on the MealTango platform.
2nd Runner Up : Vivek Kothakonda, specialised in Hyderabadi Biryanis.
Pune’s Best Chef was awarded by Masterchef Australia Celebrity Chef, Christine Manfield at the Taj Mahal hotel, Mumbai.
Sona Bahadur, former editor of the BBC Good Food Magazine, India; Le Cordon Bleu, France was also present at the award ceremony. The winners and runner ups were also presented with gifts and hampers worth ₹10,000 from sponsors Stahl Kitchenware, Weikfield and FoodThink.
“This competition prove that passion is what leads you to success” said Girija, who runs her kitchen confidence studio since August 2014. At her studio, she offers cooking classes to children in a safe environment that encourages discovery and creativity.
