Lamborghini Targets Major Sales Boost

Lamborghini expects to nearly treble sales in India in 2019, says a report.

This is a year ahead of the Italian super sports carmaker’s previous plans, riding on the back of its new super luxury SUV Urus, a top company official said.

With nine months of waiting period for Urus for 2019, Automobili Lamborghini India is also confident of becoming the leader in the super luxury car segment of vehicles priced above 2 crore rupees, competing with the likes of Rolls Royce, Bentley apart from other sports carmakers, including Ferrari.

A321neo Added To IndiGo Fleet

Budget carrier IndiGo has become the first domestic airline to have longer range Airbus A321neo plane in its fleet, says a report.

The first aircraft has arrived in New Delhi from the European aviation major Airbus’ Hamburg facility in Germany, an airline source said. The maiden A321neo (new engine option), VT-IUA, has joined the fleet after a delay of one month.

It was to join the fleet on November 29 as per the earlier schedule. The induction of the first A321neo, of the 150 on order, will help IndiGo spread its wings to medium-haul international destinations.

Suzuki Launches New Hayabusa Model

Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd launched the 2019 edition of its sportsbike Hayabusa priced at Rs 13.74 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), says a report.

The 2019 edition of Suzuki Hayabusa, powered by a 1,340 cc engine, will feature an added pair of side reflectors for Indian conditions, the company said in a statement. The Hayabusa’s muscular four-cylinder engine delivers a broader wave of torque for effortless acceleration.

Its advanced design boasts liquid-cooling, ram-air downdraft induction with Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve (SDTV) throttle bodies, fuel injection employing twin injectors controlled by a 32-bit ECU, and hollow double overhead cams operating four valves per cylinder.

Zomato Enters Events Segment

Online restaurant guide and food ordering firm Zomato has entered into the experiential events segment with the launch of multi-city food and entertainment carnival, Zomaland.

The carnival will be held across three cities in India – Delhi, Pune and Bengaluru, Zomato said in a statement.

“We believe that if there is an experience to be built around food, Zomato has a significant role to play in making it happen,” Zomato COO Gaurav Gupta said.

Molton Brown Eyes India Foray

British luxury beauty and fragrance brand Molton Brown plans to foray into India’s hospitality sector in the next fiscal and get into omni-channel retail here.

The company, which plans to open 15 stores across India over the next five years, at present has one store in India.

It entered India in June last year. Molton Brown also plans to start its own e-commerce website in the next 12 months, he said. Globally, hotel segment accounts for 24 per cent of the company’s business.

Jio Planning New Smartphone

A top executive from Reliance Jio has confirmed that the company is trying to work with partners who can help them create a new affordable large-screen smartphone.

This is for users who are still looking to upgrade from a feature phone to an entry-level 4G smartphone.

Reliance Jio is in talks with Flex, a US-based contract manufacturer, for locally manufacturing around 100 million affordable smartphones and bank on the users looking to upgrade from a feature phone.

Kraft Heinz Eyes Campbell Auction

US food giants Kraft Heinz and Mondelez International are on the short list to take part in the second round of the Campbell’s Soup’s international business auction, according to a report.

It would enable Campbell’s to unload its international portfolio, which includes its Australian cookie brand Arnott’s and Danish baked-snacks maker Kelsen Group, the report said.

Based on first-round bids, the international division is expected to fetch close to $3 billion. Private equity firms Bain Capital LP, KKR and FinTrek Capital Hong Kong Co. also made the short list.
