The name Kangana Ranaut conjures up a portrait of a rebellious star who took on the establishment and acted on her own terms.

She could afford to that. Right from her debut at a young age, Kangana won plaudits for her acting abilities which translated into three National and four Filmfare awards.

Fashion and Life… In a Metro sent her career on an upward swing. There was a lull later when she opted to play only glamorous roles before taking on a new challenge with Queen. She did not look back after that.

Today she is among highest paid actors in Hindi cinema. Here are some of her efforts:

A hard-drinking bar dancer Simran (Kangana) living in Seoul gets trapped between a singer Aakash (Hashmi) and a mobster Daya (Ahuja) which ends in tragedy.  The latter tries hard to reform after he is thrown out of the gang but he needs to do one more robbery so that he and Simran can flee to India.

Daya comes to know that Simran has a soft corner for Aakash. Later Aakash professes his love for Simran and she carries his child. He gives her the final choice but Simran is also attached to Daya too. She confesses all to Daya who later gets caught and is sentenced to death. But is Aakash what he professes to be?

A schizophrenic actress Sana (Kangana) cannot fathom her dreams from reality and tries to end her life by slashing her wrists. Her filmmaker lover Aditya (Ahuja) rushes to her side and then remembers how she played such a critical role in helping him get a breakthrough in the industry and be there for him at every stage of his career.

Aiditya tries to reciprocate by helping her through her illusions and even runs away from Bollywood with her. They live an idyllic life before Sana disappears suddenly. Only Aditya can save Sana but it isn’t so easy. This is Kangana’s finest performance.

Model Nandita (Kangana) gets involved in a web of superstitions and the supernatural which traps her until she is rescued. Her boyfriend Yash (Suman) runs a TV serial which is against the very same thing which his girlfriend is trapped in.

She is stalked by an aspiring artist Prithvi (Hashmi) who has drawn a portrait of her four years ago and another one showing her wrists slit. She follows him to a temple where the secret is buried in search of the truth. A well near there reveals the secret.

Manu’s (Madhavan) trip to India from London turns into a nightmare as his proposal is rejected by the chosen one Tanu (Kangana). She says that she already has a boyfriend and she loves him madly. This sets off a series of events where engagements are made and broken, marriages take place and eventually Manu seeks the hand of Tanu again.

Tanu is going to be married to Raja (Shergill) who picks up fights at the drop of a hat and is equipped with a gun. Manu agrees to be a witness at their wedding but things don’t work out. Meanwhile, Tanu condescends to be Manu’s friend. But things begin to get deeper after that.

A low in confidence woman from Delhi Rani (Kangana) gets a shock when her to-be husband Vijay (Rao) drops her a day before her wedding. He finds her ways too conservative. Depressed, Rani decides to go on the planned honeymoon trip to Paris and Amsterdam alone.

In Paris she meets free-spirited Vijayalaxmi (Lisa) who shows her around and also changes her thinking. A selfie sent unknowing to Vijay triggers off his interest again. She lands in Amsterdam and lives alongside foreign nationals and enjoys herself. When Vijay lands up in Amsterdam, he gets a rude surprise.
