Toranmal-  A hill station located in the Satpura range (Akrani Taluka of Nandurbar district)in Maharashtra and blessed with natures finest elements.

Initially, the place apparently belonged to tribals and the name Torana is derived from the goddess who is the presiding deity of a temple located in hilly regions of the plateau. Blessed with pleasant weather, Toranmal has lush greenery surrounded by lakes and a cascading waterfall.

Toranmal is enriched with a variety of flora and fauna. Apart from the dense forest surrounding the hill station, Toranmal is also famous for its unique and lesser known culture and tradition.

Getting There:

By Train: Nandurbar Railway station is the nearest railway station at a distance of 84 KM  and Dondaicha station is at a distance of 75km from this Hill station. Several long-distance trains halt at Nundurbar. Check the availability before you finalise your visit.

By Road: Toranmal is at a distance of around 50 km from Shahada city in Nandurbar district. State buses don’t ply directly to Toranmal. However one can take a bus to Dhule and then proceed to Toranmal.

Those of you who prefer a cab or driving can get on to NH60- Naryangoan- Sangamner- Kopargoan- manmad- Dhule- Shahada- Toranmal.

Places to Visit

Gorakhnath temple

Gorakhnath Temple is one of the important Hindu pilgrimage spots in Toranmal. Thousands of devotees visit the temple on the occasion of Maha Shivratri. Devotees come from Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat besides Maharashtra.

Sita Khai

Sita Khai is located 1.5km away from Toranmal and this destination will leave you absolutely speechless. It comprises of a mesmerizing valley which got its name from Seedha Khai. The waterfall at the site serves as the major attraction for tourists from all over India. An Echo Point is also located at Sita Khai.

Yashwant Lake

Yashavant Lake is a beautiful natural lake spreading over an area of 1.59 sq km. The lake derives its name from Yashwant Rao Chavan, the former Chief Minister of Maharashtra.

It is said that Chavan visited Toranmal on horseback. Apart from offering panoramic vistas, one can also enjoy activities like fishing and boating. In close proximity is a Protestant Church that also attracts a lot of tourists.
