Need a break from this blazing hot summer?

Then this may be the article you were looking for. Here is where Pune is all set to go for the summer break.

While most tour and travel operators say the summer is always the family favourite, when it comes to holidays, this time around, the demand has grown. It could be attributed to the city getting warmer year by year or our citizens are just getting more adventurous !

Either way, it is vacation time and we did our round of meeting with travel operators and holiday ready citizens to check on the hot destinations on their list…

G. Krishna, Vice President, Travel Masters (Mumbai) Pvt. Limited says, “There is definitely a rise in bookings as compared to last year. Though the summers have started in Pune, there is still some snow in the hills, making those destinations popular.

The Puneites preferred destination is either the Northeast in India and for International holidays, it is the European Continent. Most of them opt for snow clad mountains while some want to explore the colored coral reefs and underwater life”. adds Krishna.

“Destinations such as Gangtok, Auli, Dalhousie, Dharamshala, Manali, Corbett, Nainital and International destinations like Thailand, Bali, Mauritius, Bhutan, and Sri Lanka are in great demand in Pune,” says Deepak Ovhal, Travel Operator. Indeed, many want to visit a tropical island at this time of year, and some choose to settle down abroad because of it.

With school exams just over, families are already ready with their summer holiday plans and everyone is just waiting for their trip. We have a rise of approximately 15% in hotel bookings in the past two days.

“Punekars mostly prefer the pleasant weather enjoyed at some domestic destinations in view of their paucity of time . Most prefer those international destinations that offer a visa on arrival,” he adds.

Ajay Desai, Zumba Instructor says, “the long wait is now coming to an end and it is time to travel and take a dip in the sea and pools.”

It is a great time to explore the underwater world and enjoy the crystal clear waters. This summer is reserved to explore the whole of Sri lanka. From the tranquil beaches in Bentota to a wildlife safari at Yala National Park. We have scheduled more days to the coolest spots of the island,” Ajay adds.

The Exams are over, and the heat has started getting severe in the city. The right time to de-stress and enjoy good family time. It is going to be the perfect break from the heat and pollution of the city,” says Rashmi Devare, Student.

This place is strikingly beautiful even in summer, one can forget the summer discomfort and just feel the breeze. It is known as the Kashmir of Andhra, Lambasingi. It is a small village, located in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

“Imagine waking up to misty mornings and enjoying peaceful evening walks through the the cloud-kissed plantation trails, this promises to be one memorable trip,” she adds.

“Life is unfair when it comes to vacations, it becomes very difficult to get leave from the office. Though, I am lucky enough to get it approved every year during summer, says Prthivi Parmar, Analyst.

I often go for weekend gateways, but I eagerly await my summer trip. This year, along with a group of friends, we have planned to go to Himachal Pradesh. The land of snow covered majestic mountains and the beauty of the terrain, is beyond imagination.

People prefer going to Himachal Pradesh from May to November as the Rohtang Pass is open during this time and one can easily go to Leh-Ladakh on bikes.

“So, pack your bags, carry your essentials and fly,” he adds.

“My family are total travel freaks and its mandatory to travel, once a year,” says Lavi Raj, Student.

Pune is known to be one of the pleasant cities in Maharashtra, yet, it shows its rage during the summers. This year we plan to visit Phuket in Thailand. Although it is considered a honeymoon destination, the sheer beauty attracted us.

“The beaches, the boat houses and Thai food, is going to be one great experience on our list,” Lavi adds.
