These Mutton Thalis Are Only For The Serious Foodie

 

This city has always been a paradise for food lovers and people are spoilt for choice of cuisine, yet, there are these moments when you crave a nice old fashioned local thali meal!

Pune can boast of some great ‘local flavour’ restaurants that do complete justice to a great Maharashtrian Mutton Thali, as we figured in our hunt to find a truly mouth-watering home style meal.

Hotel Chul Mutton

Applauded by Punekars, this is the only place in Pune which serves the traditional mutton cooked on a Chul. Be warned that the level of spice can be fairly high and the faint hearted must breathe deep before they try.

The meal comes with a thick spicy gravy along with Sukha mutton, Bhakri and Unlimited Pandhara Rassa.

Besides their Mutton Thali, you could try their chicken thali and chicken Mutton starters all, cooked on a Chul.

Maratha Samrat

This is a heaven for mutton lovers and the taste will satiate your soul. Maratha Samrat is especially known for their Kolhapuri Style Mutton.

The ambience is perfect for a family dinner with soft Marathi music in the background. Their Mutton Thali is served with Mutton Masala, Raasa – thick coconut gravy and Mutton Kheema.

Mutton Thecha is another unique dish served here. Apart from their Mutton Thali, you can try their variety of Mutton and chicken dishes. Don’t forget to try their Solkadi which makes a perfect rolling accompaniment.

Hotel Malhar Mutton Bhakari

Hotel Malhar Mutton Bhakri is one place for authentic Marathi food that is easy on the pocket and has a wide range of Mutton dishes in the city.

They have three variants of the Mutton thalis- Malhar Mutton thali, Mutton Bhakri thali and Combo Mutton thali.

It comes with Kheema, bhakri or chappati, and unlimited spicy rassa perfectly cooked.

Surve’s Pure Non-Veg

This unique restaurant on FC Road serves only non- vegetarian fare.

Ever heard of Local Mutton Soup? Well, this is probably one of the few restaurants that serves great mutton soup in the city.

Their Mutton thali is served with mutton rassa, kheema and mutton fry, all fairly high on spice and flavour..The pieces are uniformly chopped and that really enhances the taste and flavour.

Their tenderly cooked mutton with a perfect amount of spice and flavour is sure to have you fall in love with this place.
