The Power of We !

International Women’s Day Special

Another Women’s Day, another set of the same old articles on women’s empowerment- at last count I myself have written 5 this week and there are requests lined up for more!

The same old ads in the newspaper where retailers declare their love for women and invite them to exclusive “women only” hours in malls. “The shopper spending the most money in this event will be proud winner of a trip to the spa for two people,” one ad said recently.

I don’t know about other women, but I want to ask the head honcho of this particular mall if he thinks we women are jack asses.

You spend your months hard-earned in this mall and what you get in return is a pathetic spa voucher? He deserves a well-aimed kick on the rear-side.

In the meantime, when friend Jaisurya asked if I would help curate a women’s day special for Pune 365, I was more than happy to do it. My brief was clear and simple: Avoid the old and the jaded ideas that play to the stereotype and go catch some interesting new trends.

The group of young women who form the core team of Pune 365 were more than happy to hear my ideas and contribute theirs.

The accent is on finding women in this city who are doing things that are out of the ordinary, catching trends as they evolve and getting women to talk about things that are important to them.

We hope you enjoy reading these stories as much as the team did, writing them.

Have a wonderful week long celebration. Go meet your girl friends, let your hair down and have the time of your life.
