‘Tastes of Italy’ at Hyatt Pune

Savour the ‘Tastes of Italy’ as Chef Sarika of Hyatt, Kalyani Nagar, takes you on a culinary journey at Eighty Eight. Italian food does not just consist of the regular pastas and pizzas; it is much more than that. Chef Sarika promises to introduce you to a whole new spread of Italian food that will transport your taste palettes far into the busy streets of Naples or Rome. Chef Sarika explains, “We always try and put out new cuisines in Eighty Eight since it is a continental restaurant. Last month we did Mediterranean and this month, we’re doing Italian. There is so much more to the cuisine than just pizzas and pastas. We have a cold cut counter with freshly cut pieces of meat and ham. We also have a large spread of varieties of cheese like Brie, Mozzarella, Smoked cheese and Camembert. We have prepared freshly-baked flatbreads. There is a live-counter making risottos, pizzas and pastas. We have tried to introduce different things but we’ve made the selection very classic.”

Caprese Salad

To start off this exciting journey, the Antipasti platter is traditionally served first. The Antipasti platter consists of an assortment of cold cut meats along with salmon, cheese and olives. Do not miss out on the baked caramelised onion and figs on flat bread. This unique mix makes for a great combination. In the soup section, the Pea soup with chicken and chive cheese quenelle is a creamy delight that is very light on the palette. The Caprese salad is fresh mozzarella, cherry tomatoes and basil served on sticks.

Entering the main course, the lamb chops glazed with rosemary and honey is tender and goes well with the courgette roulade and artichoke mash. A filler during the meals, the artichoke marinade is a dish that you can wipe clean in seconds. The artichokes are marinated in olive oil, garlic and parsley. The Wild Mushroom and Brie Cheese Risotto is filling main course made from thick risotto rice with a mix of four different kinds of mushroom and brie cheese. Spaghetti in Aglio Olio sauce is a simple dish made from garlic cooked in olive oil and sprinkled with parmesan cheese, served with chicken or vegetables.

Berry Cheesecake & Panacotta

The dessert includes berry cheese cake that is a richly textured and topped with blueberries. The panacotta is an Italian dessert made with sweetened cream that is set. Chef Sarika has been careful to not add gelatin as the dessert stays fresh and creamy that way. Head over to Eighty Eight to marvel on these Italian dishes and by the end of it, you’ll be expressing your satisfaction saying ‘Mamma Mia!’
