Sowjanya Bavisetti of India ousted Mihika Yadav 7-5 ,6-2 to claim the women’s singles title in the $10,000 KPIT MSLTA BVG ITF Women’s Tennis conducted by MSLTA at Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Mhalunge-Balewadi on Saturday. Soujanya got Rs 1,06000 and 18 WTA points while Mihika Yadav received Rs 56,000 and 10 WTA points.
Results: Final: Women’s singles: Sowjanya Bavisetti (Ind) bt Mihika Yadav (Ind) 7-5, 6-2.
Meanwhile, Sadio Doumbia of France prevailed over Prajnesh Gunneswaran of India 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 to lift the men’s singles title in the $50000 KPIT MSLTA ATP Challenger conducted by MSLTA at Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Mhalunge-Balewadi on Saturday.
Sadio, who is ranked 359 in the world took 2 hours and 8 minutes to beat Prajnesh. The 26-year old Sadio won his first Challenger title. The winner of the KPIT Challenger won $7,200 (Rs 4,71,000) and 80 ATP points to the winner while the runners up took $4,053 (Rs 2,65,000) and 55 ATP points.
Purav Raja and Divij Sharan both Indians survived over the rival pairs of Luca Margaroli (Switzerland) and Hugo Nys (France) 3-6, 6-3, 11-9 to bag the men’s doubles title. The winner collected $3100 (Rs 2,07,093) and 80 points while the runner-up got $1800(1,20,000)and 48 ATP points.
Kishor Patil, Chairman of the Organising committee and MD of KPIT, was the chief guest.
