In 1958 Pune University donated a pure silver made mace for the winner of the
Inter-university wrestling competition. The silver mace is 10 kg in weight and Pune University had earlier donated it, in the memory of Bhausaheb Gokhale.
60 years later Savitribai Phule Pune University wrestlers won the competition held in Rohtak (Haryana), to bring it back to Pune. The competition was held in Mahrshi Dayanand University in Haryana.
Representing Pune University 10 wrestling students participated in this competition.
where four students got the Medal.
Akshay Hirgude – 65 kg Silver Medal.
Sagar Markad (57kg), Tukaram Shitole(61kg), Akshay Kavare(86kg) were awarded with bronze medals..
Participating players included Sagar markad, tukaram Shitole, Kumar Shelar, Akshay Chorghe, Ajit Shelke, Akshay Kavre, tushar Sonavne, Adarsh Gund, Rahul Khanekar.
