Screening of ‘Afternoon Clouds’ at FTII

Film and Television Institute of India, Pune will screen the film ‘Afternoon Clouds’ directed by Payal Kapadia (Direction, 2012 batch) on June 18, 2017 at 6:30 pm at Main Theater.

‘Afternoon Clouds’ was in Cinéfondation selection of the 70th Cannes Film Festival this year. The other team members are Mayank Khurana (Cinematography), Ghanshyam Shimpi (Edit), Shreyank Nanjappa (Sound Design) and Darpan Chawla (Art Direction). the cast of the film is Cephas Subba, Trimala Adhikari and Usha Naik.

The screening of the film will be followed by interaction with Payal Kapadia.

The screenings of the film has been kept open to the media and general public.

Synopsis
Kaki is a 60-year old widow who lives with her house maid Malti from Nepal. The film takes place on one afternoon in their house where a flower blossoms in the balcony. Malti meets a boy from her hometown unexpectedly. In the meanwhile, men in the passage spray mosquito repellent smoke that gives Kaki bad dreams.

Biography of the Director

Payal Kapadia is from Mumbai. Her film ‘The Last Mango Before the Monsoon’ was shown at The International Short Film Festival of Oberhausen (2015) where it won the FIPRESCI Award and Special Jury Mention. It also won the Best Film award at the Mumbai International Film Festival (2016) and Special Mention at FILMADRID (2015).
Payal is currently studying film direction at the Film and Television Institute of India.
