Chef Meeta Makhecha

Pune’s most loved continental restaurant, The Flour Works, has a few surprises in store. Founder and owner, Chef Meeta Makhecha, has revamped the menu and added new dishes within the main course, soups and salad.

“We keep adding new things on the menu but this is the first time we’re making such a drastic change. I got bored of our menu and I thought that we needed a change!

“The only thing we’ve kept from the old menu is our sandwiches because there are a lot of regulars who come in for a quick bite during lunchtime,” explains Chef Makhecha, who started the restaurant in 2012.

Start off your meal with a warm Goat Cheese Salad that’s made with some greens and asparagus in warm dressing. The salad is light and the cheese is tender, melting in your mouth in seconds. To top this up, the Minestrone Soup is a flavourful mix of exotic vegetables and a tomato base, leaving a tangy taste on the palette.

In the mains, a new addition to the vast menu includes Honey Chilli Risotto. This sumptuous dish is creamy with the subtle taste of honey and spice that goes with every bite.

The Goat Cheese Ravioli is a simple yet filling main course with goat cheese-stuffed ravioli in a buttery garlic sauce topped with cherry tomatoes and parmesan cheese. Follow this up with Chilli Crusted Red Snapper with Orange Sauce. The tender grilled fish is coated with chilli and served with steamed vegetables.

Pancetta Chicken is a delicacy that must be had at this restaurant. The salty Italian-made pork is wrapped around chicken pieces that are mixed in various spices.

Most of the desserts from the previous menu have been carried on to the new one. The Chocolate Terrine is a sinful delight of dark Belgian chocolate terrine served with whipped cream and caramel sauce. The Custard Quartet is a dessert on the lighter side which is a mix of four miniature desserts like Crème Brulee, Caramel Custard, Panna Cotta and Pot de Crème.

Apart from the new menu, Chef Makhecha has also announced a new outlet in Salunkhe Vihar. “At this branch, the outdoor seating is much bigger. It’s a really quiet spot and that’s really important to me. A large and quiet place is necessary for people to have their space and privacy. I like restaurants that have a lot of space.”

So head straight to The Flour Works to try their new menu and enjoy the pet-friendly ambience.
