Dude the daddy, and his Sons Thor and Wifi are the canine specials at Rasika Wakalkar’s home
The Dudes:
Well mannered, polite, gentlemanly, and the only one allowed at the dining table, Dude is the eldest boy in fashionista Rasika Wakalkar’s home. The founder-owner Rudraksh- the multi designer store -simply dotes on Dude and his sons – Wifi the intelligent boy and Thor the whacky one. The trio of labradors guard her farmhouse in Bhugao.
They Guard:
Yes you read right, these labradors actually guard! Says Rasika, “If anybody new comes close to the gate they head out barking their heads off.” A far cry from the labs we are used to seeing, these three are big in size too. “They are intimidating because of their size and because they just are not scared. Completely unlike fat lazy labradors we see plonking themselves everywhere, they are always alert,” she adds.
For the Family:
Dude originally came home for Rasika’s eldest son Shardul. Thor and Wifi are for her other two children, Siona and Sara. Rasika goes to the farm every week along with husband Chetan Wakalkar and the kids go there twice a month if not more to be with the dogs.
“The freedom and space they get there is very important for their well being. I just wish they would stop trying to eat bees on the lawn. It scares me,” she shares.
Partial to the breed, Rasika says, “Everybody, especially children, should have at least one dog. They make the place they are in wonderful, they are child friendly and perfect family dogs!”
