When did you decide to become a fashion designer?

Studio Priyanka Raajiv

Since my childhood, I was always fond of dressing up in a unique way. However, it was not my aim to study design. I had an ambition of becoming a doctor. I can say I was destined to enter the fashion industry.

How did your family react to your decision?

My family has always been very supportive in all my endeavours and especially my husband. It was he who helped me set up the business and I am lucky to have a person like him in my life.

What has been your greatest achievement?

Studio Priyanka Raajiv

I think both achievements and failures become a part of your journey. And, I believe that my greatest achievement is yet to come.

Did you ever have confidence issues?

Not really because if one knows that they are doing their best under any given circumstance and has faith in the almighty these things don’t become an issue.

Who would you like to dress from Bollywood and Hollywood?

I would love to dress Sridevi and Deepika Padukone in Bollywood. From Hollywood, Angelina Jolie was on my bucket list and I am glad  to have struck that off. Having said that, I would now love to see Priyanka Chopra in my designs there.

Where do you draw inspiration from? Tell us something about your latest collection…

Studio Priyanka Raajiv

On a whole, life inspires me. Different experiences evoke my creativity. And yes, my latest collection, Aavata is very feminine, vibrant and has multicultural ethos.

How much do you enjoy dressing up?

I wonder which woman doesn’t!

Who are your favourite designers?

I really like the work of Ritu Kumar, Sabyasachi, Anamika Khanna and Payal Jain. They are fabulous.

Have you got the kind of success that you envisaged?

This would sound cliché. But, I really believe that there is still a long journey, yet, I must confess, I am enjoying where I am!
