Debutants Maersk Global Service Centre put on a valiant fight but fell short by 4-runs against Tieto Software in the 2nd Prithvi Edifice Cup 2016 Inter IT T20 Cricket Championship at the Deccan Gymkhana, here on Sunday.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss Tieto aided by Viktant Mali (56) and Prashant Dudhane (28) ran up a 145/8 total. For Maersk, Dinesh Wadkar (3/12), Mahesh Menon (3/42) did well.
Maersk began well and was on track after Venkatesh Iyer (40) took the lead in pushing his team’s innings.
Valuable contributions from Dinesh Wadkar (23) and Mahesh Menon (20) added to the total. However, timely wickets by Vikrant Mali (2/27), Javed Hussain (2/19) stalled the Maersk who ended up with at 141/9.
In a Group-4 encounter, Cybage rode on Saurabh Rawal’s unbeaten 74 as they cruised to an easy 89-wicket win over BMC Software after scoring 185/6 off their 20 overs.
In reply, BMC Software ended at 96/3. Saurabh Hire (38 n.o; 56 balls, 3×4), Vivek Kanchan (31; 46 balls, 4×4) did well, but it was Cybage’s Vikas Sagar (2/8) which made the difference eventually.
In Group-1, Barclays Technology Centre chased ACI Worldwide’s target of 116/9 by losing two wickets. Barclays achieved the target in 12.2 overs. For Barclays, Kumar Saurav’s unbeaten 42 off 37 balls and quick-fire 28-ball innings by Abhishek Shrivastav (46) was enough to get to the target.
In the other match, Mphasis scored a 76 run win over Pub Matcic. The encounter witnessed the lowest total of the day posted by Pub Matic after Mphasis bowlers Rizwan Khan (3/5) and Akhilesh Ubale (2/5) did the containment act restricting Pub Matis to a 75-run total.
