Prithvi Edifice Cup 2016 : Siemens, Springer Nature, HSBC, Persistent qualify for knock outs

Siemens’ aided by a  superlative effort by Atul Pawar (119) registered a huge 107-run win over PubMatic and powered their way into the knockout stage of the Prithvi Edifice Cup 2016 Inter IT T20 Cricket Championship, here on Monday.

Other teams making a qualifying rush on the last day of league matches were Springer Nature, HSBC and Persistent from their respective groups.

The team of the day was Siemens who not only notched the highest score of the day but had the biggest win, the most significant partnership and the only centurion when they closed out the day.

Setting a massive 243 run target, Siemens had Atul (55 balls; 13×4, 7×6) do the job in the company of Tushar Attarde 39. The duo put on 131 runs (63 balls) partnership for the second wicket.

The task proved tough for PubMatic and ended up being bowled out for 136 with Srinath Santhanam (3/29) and Latish Jamdar (3/24) impressing.

Later, Springer Nature defended their 167/7 target against Synerzip in a tight match which was decided by 20 runs in the end analysis.

For Springer Nature, the face-saving 74-run eighth-wicket partnership between Piyush (65 n.o) and Vaibhav (37 n.o) turned out to be the ‘big difference’ in the final result.

The others to make the grade were, HSBC and Persistent.

HSBC with 169/7 on the board found a hero in all-rounder Vilakshan Dadwal in their 14 run wins over Harman. Vilakshan, first made a 41-run contribution off just 26 balls and later did well with a spell that yielded 4/27 to bowl out Harman for 155.
