Infosys aided by the all-round performance of Ashay Palkar registered a comfortable 47-run win over Zensar and qualified for the knock out stage of the 2nd Prithvi Edifice Cup 2016 Inter IT T20 Cricket Championship at the Infosys ground, here on Sunday.
Playing in familiar surrounds, Infosys, put into bat by Zensar clobbered the opposition bowlers and posted a mammoth 199 off their 20 overs.
Ashay’s quick-fire 59-run knock (43 balls) helped Infosys build their innings along with Sandip Sanghai. Sandip’s whirlwind 40-run innings off just 25 balls and contained seven boundaries and along with Ashay shared 50-run (48 balls) second wicket partnership.
Later Askay along with Abhinav Jaiswal (39) were engaged in a huge third wicket partnership that yielded 81 runs off a just 50 balls.
Zensar began well with Akib Peerzade (38) and Siddharth Jalan (50) putting up a fight. However, Infosy’s Pushpendra Singh (2/23) and Ashay Palkar (1/20) did well to contain their innings to just 152/6.
The win was Infosys third in a row.
