Prithvi Edifice Cup 2016 : Mandar innings makes MasterCard’s day

MasterCard rode their success on Mandar Nair (84 n.o) to register an impressive 8-wicket win over Vmware in the 2nd Prithvi Edifice Cup 2016 Inter IT T20 Cricket Championship, here on Sunday.

Vmware, opting to bat first, mustered 143, which was mainly via the contributions by Mayur Dhas (24) and Prashant Shelke (18). MasterCard’s Mandar Nair (3/17) and Sarvesh Bisht 2/24 bowled well to keep their opponents in check.

Set with a 143-run target, MasterCard went about their job with ease.  A 106-run (75 balls) opening wicket partnership between Mandar and Vijender (15) set the foundation. MasterCard did well to build upon the start and reached 154/2 in 15.5 overs.

In other matches, Cognizant had the fifth partnership between Maaz Shaikh (48 n.o) and Prashant Dwivedi (33 n.o) help them get past Cybage by 6-wickets.

The pair put on 77 valuable off 51 balls to get past the 127-run target set by Cybage with six wickets to spare.

Earlier, Cybage’s total was built by Prathamesh Deshpande’s 47-run knock that contained five hits to the boundaries and Puneet Karan (38). Both batsmen did the bulk of the scoring.

The third match of the day had DOBI give Extreme Webtech no space to breathe and run home a 69-run winner.

DBOI’s 148/8 run total had Gaurav Sachdev (38 n.o) and Farukh Mulla (37) take responsibility of building the innings after Extreme Webtech’s Ranjit Panicker 4/18 effort cut their innings from cutting loose.

Both Gaurav and Farukh shared an innings-saving seventh-wicket partnership that yielded 54 runs off 42 balls.

In reply, Extreme Webtech choked and could only muster 80 for 6 in their allotted 20 overs.  Akshay Udar (18 n.o) was the top-scorer after Gaurav Sachdev (2/10) and Praveen Surya (2/8) bowled a tight spell to choke their opponents.
