Prithvi Edifice Cup 2016 : Johnson Controls India edge out Maersk

Johnson Controls India registered a narrow 7-run win over Maersk in the 2nd Prithvi Edifice Cup 2016 Inter IT T20 Cricket Championship at the Shinde H.S ground, here on Sunday.

In a Group-2 encounter, Johnson Controls India batting first posted 175 for 2, which was mainly built upon a massive first wicket partnership between Shyam Sunder (70) and Rana Thakurta (55). Both put on 136 runs off 103 balls.

In reply, Maersk did well in their chase with Amlesh Sarkar (39; 26 balls) and Venkatesh Iyer (37; 30 balls) doing their bit. Maersk’s innings fell short as they signed off their innings 168/5 after running out of overs.

In another match, Infosys registered a massive 99-run win over Persistent Technologies.

Infosys set 213 for 6 with the highlight of the innings being the first-wicket partnership between Vaibhav Mahadik and Prabhjot Malhotra which yielded 71 runs (38 balls). Later, Vaibhav joined hands with Vaibhav and Ashay Palekar to put on 52 runs off 30 balls for the third-wicket.

Vaibhav (62) top scored, with Ashay Palekar (55) and Prabhjot (37) doing their bit.

Persistent ended up scoring 114 after Pushpendra Singh (3/9) and Sushant Vansal (3/44) put the brakes.
