Prithvi Edifice Cup 2016 : Infosys, Springer Nature have it easy

Infosys and Springer Nature scored one-sided wins over Tibco and IP Access to get their campaign off of a winning start in the 2nd Prithvi Edifice Cup 2016 Inter IT T20 Cricket Championship, at the Nehru Stadium, here on Sunday.

Infosys registered a seven-wicket win over new entrants Tibco, while Springer Nature registered a huge 91-run win over IP Access.

In a Group-3 encounter, Tibco failed to capitalise on their choice of batting first as Infosys led by Sagar Dubey (3/12) and Ravi Thapliyal (3/12) restricted Tibco for 77/9 in their 20 overs. The mainstay of the innings was Bramhadev Mane (23) and Vishal Fand (19).

Infosys in reply raced to the total in 12.5 overs, with Vaibhav Mahadik (30 off 21 balls) taking charge, which included four boundaries and one six. Giving him company was middle order bat Ashay Palkar (20 n.o).

In a clash of first timers, Springer Nature aided by Jaiprakash Shirole’s unbeaten 59-run knock did well to post the first 200-plus total. After winning the toss they posted 207/ 7 in their 20 overs against IP Access.

Jaiprakash’s 40-ball essay was steady and contained six boundaries. Giving him company was Uddhav Thite 34 (19 balls) and Devendra Yadav (22). IP Access had Ram Kumar (3/31) do well.

Interestingly the third best contributor to the total was the ‘extras’ which accounted for 32 runs.

In reply, IP Access were restricted to 116/9. Mandar MAgikar (34) top-scored while Springer Nature’s Jaiprakash returned to claim 2/13.
