Harman Connected Services and Syntel scored easy wins over Extreme Webtech and Synerzip to open their accounts in the 2nd Prithvi Edifice Cup 2016 Inter IT T20 Cricket Championship at the Nehru Stadium here on Saturday.
In a Group-5 encounter involving first timers, Harman logged a 9-wicket win over Extreme Webtech.
Extreme Webtech began the day winning the toss and electing to bat. However, their decision turned out to be peppered with some indecision batting as their innings had five run outs.
A responsible innings by Ram Raina (24 n.o) and Sandeep Patil (27) saved Extreme Webtech as they managed to score 102/9 in their 20 overs.
Harman in reply took it easy and paced their innings well past the total losing just one wicket. An unbeaten 103-run second-wicket partnership between Mayur Bagmar (41 n.o) and Abhijeet Kokane (53 n.o) helped Harman’s overcome the total in the 16th over.
In the other match of the day, Syntel chased Synerzip’s modest 79-run total and registered an eight-wicket win.
Batting first after winning the toss, Synerzip’s innings was not the best as Syntel bowled them out cheaply. In fact, Synerzip’s 79-run total include 23 extras.
Syntel’s Naman Sharma (3/10) and Akash Jain (2/4) were the architects of the downfall.
In reply, Syntel had Sabir Shaikh (50 n.o) take charge individually. His 37-ball innings included ten boundaries. Sabir’s half-century was the second of the day and shared the day’s honours with Harman’s Abhijeet Kokane (53 n.o).
