Prithvi Edifice Cup 2016 : Amdocs, Tech Mahindra, Sungard qualify for the knock out stage

Amdocs, Tech Mahindra and Sungard signed off their group campaign registering runaway wins and qualify for the knockout stage of the 2nd Prithvi Edifice Cup 2016 Inter IT T20 Cricket Championship, here on Sunday.

At the Deccan Gymkhana Ground, Amdocs chased their opponent’s ACI Payments Systems 124-run target in just 9.4 overs and completed a 9-wicket victory.

The win was made possible owing to a quick-fire 81-run opening wicket partnership between Man of the Match Nikhil Pendharkar (59 n.o off 33 balls) and Aviral Jain (20). Their partnership was off just 40 balls, with Nikhil clubbing one six and ten boundaries in his innings.

ACI, who batted first, had Suraj Gavhane 35 (14 balls, 5×4, 2×6) and Shashank Dittakavi (26) stand out.

At Nehru Stadium, Tech Mahindra took a little longer in their chase but ended up getting past their rivals VMware target of the 109/7 with 8-wickets to spare.

Incidentally, VMware’s total was the lowest of the day in 4 matches.

VMware’s innings was led by Prashant Ambardekar 33 (37, 2×4) after Devendra Bhardwaj 3/15 was on target and consistent. Tech Mahindra replied with Vashishtha Dubey 46 n.o (50, 5×4) taking the lead. He also shared a free flowing partnership going with Ashish Inamdar (28 n.o) as his team reached the required target in 15.2 overs.

The third qualifier of the day had Prashant Pol emerge the star of the day with the only century of the day for Sungard who chased a huge Mastercard total of 139/8.

Sungard extracted a 9-wicket win after Prashant Pol’s unbeaten 107 (50, 20×4, 2×6) and Vikrant Bangar (16) put their heads down and got a fruitful partnership of 109 (57 balls) going for the opening wicket.
