Pune Obstetric and Gynaecological Society (POGS) organised its 33rd Annual CME and Installation of Managing Council 2018-19 at Sheraton Grand Hotel on April 21 and 22.

Pregnancy and labour care were the key issues discussed during the meeting. The theme of the CME was Pregnancy and Labour Care with deliberations completely based on Obstetrics.

Every minute detail from Pre-Conception to Post Partum issues were discussed in depth along with exchange of practical guidelines.

Madhuri Patel delivered the keynote address on Cervical Cerclage in Modern Obstetrics while Chief Guest of Installation and Inauguration Ceremony Prof Alka Kriplani gave the FOGSI FIGO BBC POGS oration on Caesarian Myomectomy.

Advocate Ujjwal Nikam was the Guest of Honour. POGS Newsletter SPECULUM was released at the hands of the Chief Guest Alka Kriplani.

Dr Bharati Dhore Patil who took charge as the President Of POGS introduced the new management council to the audience which includes Dr Milind Dugad as General Secretary, Dr Mangala Wani as Clinical Secretary, Dr Madhav Kankawale as Treasurer, Dr Ashish Kale as Vice-President  and Dr Pankaj Sarode as Executive Vice-President, Dr Ashwini Kale as Joint Secretary, Dr Chaitanya Ganpule as Joint Clinical Secretary, Dr Archana Pungaliya as Joint Treasurer among others .

She said the theme for this year at POGS is “Just Care for Her” based on connect, adore, respect and elevate.

She added that the society will strive to increase its membership from the current 786 to 1,000 this year.

Important initiatives taken at the meeting includes formation of the young brigade committee for upcoming consultants, multi-centric study centres across Pune, formation of POGS committee and 11 other committees to conduct various programmes.

POGS will also start six awards to encourage excellence amongst members which include Lifetime Achievement, National Achiever, Yuva Research, Best Conference, Best Senior Gynaecologist and Best Service to Society awards.

Launch of POGS Newsletter ‘Specul​u​​m​’

Outgoing President Dr Nishikant Shrotri elaborating on the achievements of the year and said that ​upgradation of the POGS office and starting of POGS payment gateway are also on the cards.

Outgoing General Secretary Meenu Agarwal gave a report on activities conducted during the last year and informed that the number of POGS members increased from 635 to more than 750 this year.

ICOG Secretary Dr Parag Binniwale gave an overview and activities of ICOG.
