Tasty Treat For Police Officers

Police on the job in Florida got a tasty surprise when they found a stolen van, says a report.

It was a lucky day for some Florida police officers who recovered the van filled with Krispy Kreme doughnuts, according to an AP report. Clearwater police posted a photo on Facebook of a group of officers standing in front of the van holding boxes of the tasty treats.

The Tampa Bay Times said the van was reportedly stolen in Lake City, which is 310km north of Clearwater. The Facebook posting says the store manager donated the cargo to the officers. They saved some doughnuts to eat and handed out the rest to the area’s homeless.

Pigs Hog Doritos Too

Doritos are a favourite snack of many and it extends to the animal kingdom too, says a report.

Deputies in California have used Doritos to lure a pig “the size of a mini horse” back home, says an AP report. The pig was running around a neighbourhood when the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office received the call.

One of the deputies had Doritos in her lunch bag. Video shows the deputy leaving a trail of the chips, which the pig followed.

Deputies had responded to previous calls about the pig and knew where to take him. He was returned to his pen, and deputies secured the gate.

Bounced Out by Large Metal balls

An onslaught of large metal balls caused severe damage on a street in Seattle, says a report.

Authorities in Seattle temporarily closed the street after motorists were stunned by dozens of large metal balls that spilled out of a truck and cascaded down the street, damaging several cars, according to an AP report.

A video taken by a person at the scene shows the balls loudly bouncing and rolling down the street as a driver slowly backs up, apparently attempting to escape the onslaught.

The Seattle Times reported that police spokesman Patrick Michaud said the balls appeared to be “really big ball bearings” and that it was unclear what caused the load of them to fall out of the truck. No injuries were reported.

Money Not Down The Drain For Workers

Philippines sanitation workers unblocking a drain discovered dozens of wallets had been clogging it up, some containing credit cards and IDs, but no money, says a story.

A man working near the scene shot video footage showing the workers in a village in Batangas city sorting through wallets and removing and laying out items including identity cards found in them, according to an AP report.

Police officer Mario David, who went to investigate what he suspected were stolen items, said many of the wallets were pulled out from deep in the drain, meaning they had been there for a long time. None of them contained any money.

The items were turned over to police so they could identify and alert the owners who were likely victims of pickpockets, David said.

Even Goats Can Get Your Goat

The appearance of a goat on a road in a Maryland suburb of Washington created traffic delays and an opportunity for county police to come up with many puns.

The Washington Post reported the goat was found on Muncaster Mill Road in Germantown, but it’s unclear where he came from and how he got on the roadway, says an AP report.

A video from a commuter shows a brown goat planted in the middle of the road as cars inch past in the rain. During the eight-second clip, the goat appears mostly unfazed as he looks around.

In a tweet, Montgomery County police revealed the goat’s name was indeed Billy, calling him the “Greatest of All Time scapegoat” for traffic delays. Police also said they “herd” animal services reunited Billy with his owner.
