A man desperate for a drink rammed an armoured personnel carrier into a shop window before climbing through the rubble to steal a bottle of wine in a town in northern Russia.

The man had swiped the vehicle from a privately-run motorsport training ground nearby, driven it through a forest and into Apatity, a small town just south of the Arctic circle, local news agency Hibinform said, according to Reuters.

Struggling to turn around in a narrow street, the man, whom witnesses described as being drunk, proceeded to slam the tank into the window of the “Family” convenience store, the news agency said.

He subsequently exited the vehicle through its hatch, briefly inspecting the damage, and entering the shop through the broken window and taking the wine.

Going Round The Roundabout

A Frenchman who drank excessive amounts of alcohol and then drove 17 times round a roundabout said he had not heard the sirens when police finally brought him to a halt, according to Reuters.

The dizzying drive was not the 73-year-old’s first offence of its kind, Ouest France newspaper, which reported the tale, said of the incident in Brittany, western France. The driver’s licence was confiscated, it said.

A Cooler Beer Binge Route

A man in Noosa, Australia, was arrested for driving down a road in a motorised beer cooler while intoxicated.

The defendant was charged with driving under the influence and driving without a licence after police caught him on the makeshift vehicle, which was powered by a 50cc engine, a report from Oddee said..

All in the Family

It may sound a bit crazy but three members of the same family were arrested for drink-driving within a span of a few hours on the same night in New Zealand.

A report in Oddee said the saga began about 12.15am local time when a 15-year-old boy was stopped and arrested for drunk-driving. He blew 529 micrograms (mcg) per litre of breath, more than three and a half times the youth limit.

The teenager was taken to a police station for processing, where his mother was called to collect him. She was subsequently stopped and arrested for drink-driving at about 2.14am, after blowing 776 mcg, nearly twice the adult limit of 400.

But it wasn’t over there. The woman then rang her partner to come and pick them both up. He was stopped and arrested at about 3am, when he blew 559mcg.

Have Booze, Will Travel

An inebriated cowboy in the US got stopped part-way through his quest to ride 950 km on horseback with nothing but his pug and a jug of beer for company.

While the man was also accused of animal cruelty, it seems that these charges may have been false, and that he was simply trying to drunkenly ride across the country in order to attend a wedding, according to a report.

“I got me a good horse,” the gentleman is reported to have said. “I can get anywhere I need to go.”

With Beer Have No Fear

A drunk driver in the US trapped after overturning his car cracked open another can of beer while awaiting rescue.

He was bored of the wait and with nothing else to do he chose to drink.

When police asked how much he had drunk, the jobless baker said,: “Plenty”, according to the Daily Meal.

Amish Made To Look Sheepish

A few Amish teenagers got a rude shock when they booked for drink-driving while riding a buggy in Pennsylvania, US.

Apparently they were unaware that drink-driving does not only apply to vehicles but also to any mode of transport, says a report in Guardian Interlock. Police got suspicious when they spotted some teenagers riding on top of the buggy.
