The Moravekars and Dots the Dalmatian

The Moravekar family dotes on Dots, their dalmatian, a really big bundle of energy.

Aarti Moravekar, architect and entrepreneur and her husband Milind Moravekar, decided they would bring home a puppy when their son Arjun turned 10. That was three years ago. A very important part of the family, Aarti tells us all about Dots!
Children and pets means no studies?

When Arjun turned 10, we got Dots. The first couple of days were full of excitement, adjustment and getting to know each others needs. “We spent a lot of time with Dots. During those days, studies, school did take a back seat. But once that patch was over, life got back to normal. My son looks forward to finishing his studies to play with Dots,” says Aarti. Arjun even teaches Dots a poem or reads him a story.

Life changed

Dots brought a lot of discipline, care and love in the Moravekar home. “Each one of us from the family became more responsible and careful about everything we say and do. Dots is now the focal point of every thought, every action. A wagging tail is always there to change the mood,” she grins looking at the boy resting his head on her feet. There is not a single dull moment at home.

The Bond

“I guess every child would love to have a pet around, and for good reason. I see Dots and Arjun sharing the same special bond from the first day,” she says of the two kids in the house. Dots enjoys wearing Arjun’s T Shirt during the monsoon and Arjun enjoys sharing the same blanket with him.

Mamas Baby

Aarti is quite unabashed in her conviction that Dots loves her the most. She reasons, “Its probably because I give him food and take him up on the hill to run. He follows me everywhere in the house. When he gets bored, he comes to me and rests his head on my lap and looks into my eyes,” she shares. If she still continues working, he climbs up on her shoulders and starts licking er ears. And the last warning is when he climbs onto the keyboard! Now we know who presses the right keys!

Dalmatians as Pet

They need a lot of exercise and protein intake.

We take Dots out up for walk on the hill twice in a day. We let him free to run all over.

And Dalmatians don’t like to be left alone. He cries miserably if he is left alone.
