LecheroCity - Women Equally Guilty !

Staring at women and passing comments on them has become a national pastime for many men and more so during festivals or holidays. Standing in groups and gazing right through a girl (as if they have a scanner installed in their eyes) render our city’s women disgusted.

But the moot point is; Are only the women victims of such lecherous men?

Read what a cross section of citizens feel about this increasing malaise.

“The problem with guys is that it shows on their face how desperate they are. Their expressions speak a lot about them. The continuous staring, vulgar remarks, whistles and lewd gestures pretty much mirrors their dirty minds.

And this doesn’t stop with only young boys or men. Even 60-year-old ‘grandfathers’ are no saints when it comes to embarrassing a woman with their disgusting gaze,” says Riya Solanki, a commerce graduate.

Pradeep Aghashey, a finance manager, says “I feel it’s not only men who find potentially sexual connotations in every conversation. Surprisingly, women often tend to think dirtier than guys. It’s just they don’t show it. We have this habit of cleverly camouflaging our intentions to our friend that never goes unnoticed by the women present there. By putting ordinary phrases into a sexual context and then laughing out loud, we somehow display our sexual innuendo,” he adds.

“I think men are indecent when it comes to expressing that they are attracted to someone. Their actions in public make them seem annoyingly addicted to sexual desires and that puts them in a spot. And come-on, every girl comes to know when a guy stares at her with wrong intentions. Not that women don’t discuss a hot guy, it’s just they do it skillfully,” says Sakina Godhrawala , a social media executive (24).

Taking about his own experiences, Raj Purohit says, “I accept that ‘some’ men are sexually attracted to a girl but it applies to the other gender as well. Whenever I am working out, I see some women staring at me and exchanging smiles. That is kind of disgusting. We can’t just say that only men are lecherous, women too stalk men and pass comments and I am voicing this from my own personal experience.”

“I personally don’t think that all men are lecherous. There are many stereotypes when it comes to both the genders and this is one of them. We have preconceived notions that women are always the victims of such guys, but I believe women also lose their head when they notice a hot guy,” says Sanaya Arora, a public relations officer.
