It’s Saffron all the Way

The streets around Shivajinagar are carpeted in saffron. People smeared in the colour are dancing on the roads, celebrating the BJP’s victory in their ward.

“At least in this ward, none of the BJP candidates have any criminal record,” says Rohan Jadhav, as he wipes off the saffron from his forehead. Unlike the NCP supporters, he has voted so that his ward starts to develop. He wants a functioning metro, continuous electricity supply and a strong fight against corruption.

The women workers of the BJP refer to their candidate, Reshma Bhosale, as Jhansi ki Rani.

“She has done so much for us. Providing maternal benefits, hospital cards and pensions,” claims Lalita Swami.

Swami added that it was Bhosale who asked them to campaign for BJP and make sure that everyone presses the lotus button in all four panels.

All of Pune seems to be bathed in saffron today even before the final election results are officially declared.
