When Intelligence Is ‘The True Turn-On’

Hark millennials, for along with Facebook and cryogenics this is the age of true sapiosexuals. Plainly put, these folks tend to crave brain over brawn. Targeting intelligence and even IQ as an important character trait in their ideal partner, Pune’s self-confessed sapios’ tell you why they don’t choose looks over books.

“I can never fathom why people choose washboard abs over an intelligent conversation”, says Dhriti Jha. “Imagine being on a date where all your partner can do is flex their muscles like Johnny Bravo!

“I’m an old-soul, so I’d rather have an intellectually stimulating conversation any day. I don’t care if that makes me boring, but I am what I am. A hardcore bookworm; I tend to lose respect for a guy who continually fails to catch my drift when we converse”, she confesses unapologetically.

Nikhil Dutt believes that looks fade, but the mind is forever. “I’d rather be with someone who wants to grow with me and learn new things. Looks are grossly overrated. I get chills every time I envisage a distant future where I’ve cataclysmically ended up with a poser bimbo or ‘selfie queen’.

“And hey, the wrinkles and sagging skin would make her a selfie nightmare at 70 anyway!” he chuckles uncontrollably.

Just like Jha, Anvita Sarna too believes nerdy is the new sexy. Interestingly, she states that it’s also the best way to a lasting relationship. “Um.. I hate to say it but most nerds are hugely neglected ‘nice guys’. Having found love with one, I can attest that they make the most caring and sensitive boyfriends.

The intelligence is a plus and a huge turn on for me personally”, she quips.

Bringing a unique view to the table is Ravi Kashyap who voices his fears about ending up with a gold digger. “The way I see it, only a woman who has studied hard and worked hard to establish herself in a career just like me will truly appreciate all that I am. I don’t really want a shopaholic parasite who hopes to live off me,” he says unabashedly.

“I believe a person is a result of their collective experiences so I look forward to treasuring an ambitious partner like me. Dating someone who’s just eye-candy won’t do it for me, as I’d always wonder what she was bringing to the relationship”, he explains with a laugh admitting to being a true sapiosexual.
