Happy Independence Day… Also, 75 days of Pune365!

It’s August 15. India celebrates yet another year of independence from colonial powers. As free citizens, we have reason to thank our forefathers, many of who worked tirelessly towards achieving freedom for us.

Yes, it’s a fact that many of the infrastructural marvels of today were created by the British. And, we do know that the infrastructure that we see today – potholed roads, for instance – are built by Indians in Free India.

There’s enough to rue about. Other than the mess on Pune roads, there are inefficiencies everywhere: power cuts, traffic jams, disease-causing filth in our public spaces, and corruption. The last of these exists in abundance in private enterprise too. Not just a preserve of government-controlled bodies/ services.

However, there’s enough to also be proud of for us as Indians. And more so as Puneites. Our country and twin cities (of Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad) have made rapid strides since 1947. We are ahead of most state capitals in terms of development, and Pune-PCMC’s status as an education, auto, wellness and IT hub is recognised globally.  Almost all the people we have spoken to for our ‘I Love Pune’ series underscore the various pluses…  the weather and welcoming nature of Puneites being the foremost.

August 15 also marks 75 days of Pune365’s existence. In the last two-and-a-half months, we have made rapid strides. Our attempt has been to offer you honest and top quality journalism. We may be a city portal, but we are run like the best in the business.

And starting this week, we will bring you even more. Thank you, dear reader, for the faith.

Bestest.

On behalf of Team Pune365
