Forgive Me Father, For I have Sinned..

Gluttony is incontestably the sweetest sin that many of us are guilty of. Pune tempts us with the choicest of treats, so how can we not indulge ourselves? Food trucks are the newest entrants to the dynamic food scene and have been delighting epicureans in town.

Right from ‘Fork the Kebab’ that specializes in delectable Mughlai offerings like Mutton Angara to ‘Mexican Rodeo’ where you can savour the most tantalizing tacos- these food trucks certainly pack a flavourful punch.

Pune recently hosted a spectacular food truck festival that brought together trucks from different parts of the city. Manish Walia, who made a bee-line for the ‘Bombay Food Truck’ from Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex, said he was delighted to taste the Chicken Do-Nut and Desi style Hot Dogs that he was so partial to.

Hitesh and Leena Patel on the other hand were seen rushing to ‘Chow Down’ for a lip-smacking burger binge-fest. With sweet treats like Lemon Cheese-cake Tarts and the rare Churros; this truck certainly satiated their palate.

Karthik Sarna was all praise for ‘Eggs Factor’ and ‘L’dorado’ where he sampled a mean Anda Ghotala and the best Chicken Wings respectively.

A few food truck owners at the festival expressed their disappointment at the struggle over acquiring licenses and seeking approval from the authorities. Even so, most were keen to point out the many advantages that this business module presented which included a minimum investment and substantially greater returns.

“The best part is that you can drive around and bring your food to people directly,” says Riddhima Sharma, whose brother owns a food truck in the city. “Since it is predominantly a western concept covered extensively on shows like ‘Eat Street’ and ‘Carnival’ on Travel XP, mobile food stations hold great allure for city gastronomes who have been yearning to see these in their homestead.”

With enticing meats and delectable treats these food trucks are sure to awaken the dormant foodie in you.
