Empress Garden gets new public toilets

The Rotary Club of Shivaji Nagar donated public toilets to Empress Garden at an event held on June 29. Empress Garden, one of the best botanical gardens in India, covers a sprawling 39 acres, and is home to many rare species of trees and flowers.

It plays host to annual flower shows and is visited by over five lakh people annually. Realising the need for better public toilet facilities , the Rotary Club constructed a toilet unit for both men and women along with a facility for handwash.

Prominent business leader and social worker Sumantai Kirloskar was Chief Guest. Gauri Shikarpur, President of the Club, IT Expert Dr Deepak Shikarpur, Suresh Pingale and Avlokita Mane were also present.
